Yes, this building really exists! Alas it’s the one that’s no quite within the city limits of Edinburgh. It’s actually in Dunmore Park near Airth. The Dunmore pineapple was built as a summer house in 1761 by the Earl of Dunmore.
It featured extensive glasshouses where many exotic fruits were grown. Nowadays it is open to visitors and you can even book to stay in the pineapple!
